Are there Pools in Maui with swim-up bars?
Today is a bit of a fun post; we’ll be talking about pools in Maui with swim-up bars! As a Hawaii Travel Agent, I specialize in Hawaii honeymoons and book more Maui honeymoons than anything else. So, it might not be surprising that I’m often asked, “Are there any swim-up bars in Maui?”
The answer is that swim-up bars are not generally common in Maui or Hawaii. Swim-up bars are more popular at all-inclusive resorts like Sandals Resorts or Secrets Resorts. However, there are a few swim-up bars in Maui, and we’ll discuss all of them today.
If you’re wondering if visiting Maui now is okay, the short answer is yes! Check out a blog post I wrote about just that: Is it okay to visit Maui now?
You’ll definitely need a car in Maui. You’ll find the best prices anywhere at Discount Hawaii Car Rental.
Maui resorts with swim-up bars
Here are the four reasons in Maui with swim-up bars, listed in no particular order.
If you’re looking for some other great resorts in Maui, here are two of my favorites. They don’t have swim-up bars, but they have plenty of other amenities that I love! First, Andaz Maui is my top choice for honeymoons. I love that it’s an intimate resort with everything you need, and it’s in Wailea (like most of the resorts on this list). Check out my full review here: Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort Review.
Want something that is strictly adults-only? That is RARE in Hawaii, but Maui does have one fully adults-only resort: Hotel Wailea. Ready my full review of Hotel Wailea here: Hotel Wailea Review (The only adults-only Maui resort.)
Now, let’s get to the list of swim-up bars in Maui!
Hyatt Regency Maui
Let’s start with the resort on this list that I book the most as a Maui Travel Agent, Hyatt Regency Maui. Why do I book it the most? Well, it has everything! There are many great activities and amenities, whether on a honeymoon or traveling with a family.

Furthermore, It’s the only resort on this list located on the west side of Maui. That means it’s an excellent spot to see whales in the winter. You’ll often see whales in the West Maui channel right off your lanai!
Hyatt Regency Maui has several pools and plenty of daily activities. Thanks to its more moderate price point, it’s my top pick for families (with one exception that I’ll mention below). Now, here’s the downside: The Grotto (swim-up bar) at the Hyatt Regency Maui is currently closed.
It has been under renovation for quite some time and does not have a solid re-opening date. For this reason, I’d have to recommend another resort on this list for right now if a swim-up bar in Maui is a must.
If everything else about Hyatt Regency Maui (penguins, great restaurants, great location) is appealing, check out my full review of Hyatt Regency Maui or watch a tour of Hyatt Regency Maui on YouTube.
Grand Wailea
I love Grand Wailea for one main reason: the spa!! The new spa at Grand Wailea is nothing short of amazing. Kilolani Spa recently underwent a 30-million-dollar renovation and is raved about by everyone who visits! You don’t have to take my word for it; check out my video tour of Grand Wailea to see some of it for yourself.
Grotto Bar is small, and you may have trouble finding it since Grand Wailea has 9 pools! That said, this is a great little swim-up bar in a great resort. Most of the resorts on the south side are a bit smaller, but Grand Wailea is the exception to the rule! If you like the idea of being on the south side but want a large resort, this is the resort for you.

If you’re traveling with a large group, I love Ho’olei Villas! You’ll need to pull out your wallet for these as they are pricey, but the large, private, and very high-end 3-bedroom villas are perfect for a larger family or multi-generational group!
Four Seasons Maui
If you want the best of the best, look no further than Four Seasons Maui. I probably don’t need to explain why Four Seasons is the perfect choice for those who want it all.
The Four Seasons Maui is located on Wailea Beach. All beaches in Maui are public, but this beach is quieter due to a lack of public parking. The beach is shared with the Grand Wailea Resort which was mentioned just above.
Four Seasons Maui is a smaller resort with all of the amenities that Four Seasons is known for. FS Maui is the only resort on Maui with a kids’ club that is currently open.
There are two pools, one for families and one for adults. Of course, the adult pool has a swim-up bar! If your budget allows for the Four Seasons Maui, it’s an obvious choice. If you can go for club level, their club is one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Fairmont Kea Lani
I said I love Hyatt Regency for families, and I do. However, Fairmont Kea Lani is my go-to for larger families as their suites and villas can accommodate 6+ very easily. However, today, we’re talking about pool bars, and the pools, specifically the adults-only pool, is another one of my favorite features of the resort.
This resort is located on the south side of Maui, very close to the previous two resorts, Four Seasons and Grand Wailea. In fact, you can walk between these (and other south Maui resorts) for dinner and shopping!
Now, let’s get to the pool bar. I know I said I love this resort for larger families, and I do, but another thing that I love about this resort is the adults-only pool. It’s the largest in Maui! It also has the largest pool bar in Maui. Ama Bar and Grill is a beautiful and large swim-up bar in Maui!

I have a tour of Fairmont Kea Lani on YouTube, so make sure to check it out!
