My Favorite Fitness Gear for Busy Moms
I have taken a turn with this blog and I want to get back to where I started. I am now going to focus on fitness tips and inspiration for busy moms. I plan to do more posts about food, fitness, and how to fit it all into a crazy schedule! Today I want to talk about my favorite fitness gear for busy moms.
The Fitbit is my absolute favorite piece of fitness gear for busy moms! I’ve had mine for a little over a year. I find that I am more motivated to move when I wear it, and I wear it every day! In addition to tracking steps, the Fitbit can track floors climbed, heart rate and sleep, depending on which model you have. I currently have the first version of the flex, but I am looking at the Fitbit Alta or Charge 2. My husband has Fitbit Surge, but if you’re on a budget I would recommend the original Flex, Flex 2, or Alta. Wearing a Fitbit won’t automatically make you more active, but it’s fun to watch your steps go up and even compete with friends through challenges.
If you’re doing any kind of weight training, having a foam roller is a must! This foam roller by Amazon basics is very affordable. They have three different sizes, and I recommend the largest size if you have room for it. The largest size is great for keeping at home, but I also keep this compact Gaiam foam roller in my gym bag. My gym doesn’t have foam rollers, so I like to keep a smaller one on me for after workouts. I am thinking of starting a YouTube channel to make some videos. Nike Waist Pack
I can’t believe that I am recommending a fanny pack, but this Nike waist pack is very handy for keeping your keys/phone on you at the gym. If you’re paranoid about leaving your things at the gym, or just want an easy way to carry your phone, this is a great option. They look small, but they stretch quite a bit and can easily accommodate a phone and other small items.
I recommend eating whole, real, unprocessed food as much as possible. Let’s be honest, when you’re a busy mom on the go, that doesn’t always happen. I have found that Quest bars are a decent option when you’re running like a mad women and don’t have time to make a meal to take with you. At around 20g of protein, Quest Bars are an awesome option post-workout. Quest bars are gluten free, but they do contain corn, milk products and sucralose. I am currently not eating dairy, but if you can tolerate dairy I recommend stashing a few of these in your purse or car. My favorite flavor is Cookies and Cream (hello gluten free cookies and cream!!) but I also enjoy White Chocolate Raspberry as a close second.
Save your hands some pain and go ahead and buy some gloves for lifting weights. Gloves will save your hands if you’re doing a lot of lifting. I also notice that my gloves keep my wedding ring from pinching my fingers, which seems to happen when I’m not wearing gloves.
Resistance bands are fantastic for working out on the go or at home. I also like resistance bands for adding a little bit more to your gym workout. Using these resistance bands by Athleema during squats or other leg movements will make your muscles work even harder. This set that I am recommending comes with three different bands so that you can work your way up.
