How Does Ebates work?
If you’re wondering how Ebates works, and whether or not it’s legit, you’re in the right place! I have been using Ebates for cash back since 2011 and I absolutely love it! I do love to use Swagbucks, but sometimes the cash back percentage is bigger on Ebates. If you want actual cash, and not gift cards, Ebates is definitely the way to go. The bottom line is, if you’re doing any kind of shopping online and not getting cash back, you’re missing out! I decided to write this guide to show you how to use Ebates, because it’s so simple!
How to get started?
Joining Ebates is incredibly easy! You can sign up for a new account in just a few clicks. Once you have signed up, it’s very simple to search for cashback options. I regularly use Ebates to book through Hotwire for hotels. If you do a lot of shopping on Amazon, Ebates can also come in handy. I buy a lot on Amazon, and I love that I can get up to 7% cash back with just one click! There really isn’t a downside to using Ebates, other than it takes a few extra seconds of your time. It doesn’t cost anything extra, and the cash back is almost immediate. I have found that I usually get my cash back within 24 hours, although they say 2-3 days. If you book a trip through Ebates, you may have to wait until it’s over to get the cash back. I don’t find this to be a downside, since it’s cash that I wouldn’t be getting back if I didn’t go through Ebates. I also suggest downloading the Chrome plug in, because it makes it hard to forget to use Ebates.
If you do a lot of online shopping, make sure you always check to see if you can shop through Ebates for a percentage of the cash back. Sometimes they will run deals for double cash back, or advertise extra offers. You can combine Ebates with other offers through the site (such as a promo code for 20% off) but you can’t use another cashback service like Swagbucks at the same time.
Ebates vs. Swagbucks
When it comes to Ebates vs. Swagbucks, they’re really two different services. I highly recommend that you use both for cash back purposes. I use whichever has the highest cash back % for whatever I am purchasing. If I want to get cash (rather than Amazon or other gift cards) I use Ebates because it is quicker and it goes straight into my PayPal account. My recommendation is using both services and taking the higher percentage of cash back that is available. It can change from day to day, so make sure to double check. Swagbucks also offers quite a few more features, whereas Ebates is strictly for cash back. So you could have both and use Ebates for cash back but do surveys or watch videos on Swagbucks and earn extra cash/gift cards from both!
Where to shop with Ebates
Ebates posts deals on their site, so it’s easy to find coupon codes and combine them with cash back. There are several popular places to shop through on Ebates like:
- Amazon (Check out What To Buy With Amazon Subscribe & Save!)
- Old Navy
…and so many more! My personal favorites are Hotwire.com (we book quite a few hotels and love Hotwire) and Amazon.
It may not seem like 2% here or 5% there is much, but if it’s money that you’re already spending, what do you have to lose? I like to keep the money from Ebates and use it toward my Christmas Fund! Do you use Ebates? Let me know if you sign up, and what kind of deals you have scored.
