Kid-friendly smoothie recipe
If you have a picky eater like I do, you know that getting them to eat their veggies can be difficult. Fortunately, all three of my kids love fruit, but one doesn’t particularly care for vegetables. I have a perfect solution – smoothies! My son who won’t touch a green vegetable loves green smoothies. Green smoothies are his favorite because that is his favorite color. Does that make any sense at all? No, but he is 4.
I have found that you can pack all kinds of goodies into smoothies and kids love them no matter what! Today, we are going to share two of our favorite kid-friendly smoothie recipes.
Produce for Kids
Healthy eating for kids is very important to me. That is why I am partnering with Produce for Kids. We keep our smoothies simple, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, vegan, etc! If you have any food allergies, feel free to sub any ingredient with one that works for your family.
Mean Green Smoothie
- One cup of frozen Pineapple
- 1 handful Naturipe Strawberries
- Juice for 1 Sunkist Orange
- 1 Sage Fruit pear
- 1 avocado
- Cup of spinach, kale or other greens.
- 1 tbsp of chia or flax seeds
Makes 2-3 servings, depending on how much your kids enjoy smoothies!
Add all ingredients together in a blender (we use a Ninja), add enough water to cover most of the fruit, and blend until smooth! If you are using all fresh fruit, throw in some ice, if using some frozen fruit, you can add it or leave it out. I prefer using spinach for the greens because it has no taste in the smoothies. I also add a little chia or flax for the extra nutrition.
Big Red Smoothie
- 1 cup Naturipe strawberries
- 1/2 cup Naturipe raspberries
- Avocado (you can use half or the whole thing)
- 1 carrot
- 1/2 cup Schmieding Produce watermelon
- 1 tbsp chia or flax seeds
Makes 2-3 servings.
Add all ingredients together in a blender, add enough water or juice to cover most of the fruit, and blend until smooth! This is a big hit with my kids because they love all red fruit! You do not taste the avocado but it makes the smoothie very creamy!
