Hotel Wailea Review
In today’s Hotel Wailea Review, I am excited to share one of the only adults-only hotels in Wailea. Not only is Hotel Wailea the only adults-only resort in Maui, but it’s also the only Relais & Châteaux property in all of Hawaii.
This makes Hotel Wailea easily one of the best honeymoon resorts in Maui. In fact, it’s the only adults-only hotel in Maui. Maui has a couple of other resorts that I love for honeymoons, but if you want a small, boutique resort that is adults-only, Hotel Wailea is for you! Just make sure to book early; with only 72 suites, they tend to sell out in advance.

If you don’t have a rental car yet, I recommend Discount Hawaii Car Rental. This is my go-to for rental cars on all of the Hawaiian islands, including Maui!
Overview of the Hotel Wailea
Hotel Wailea is located on 15 acres of ocean-facing property. This hotel is located uphill just a bit, offering stunning 180-degree views of Wailea. Have no fear; the beach is just a few minutes away!

Hotel Wailea has a pool and hot tub with complimentary cabanas that are first-come, first-served. You should always rent a car in Maui, but if you don’t (or want to enjoy Happy Hour safely), you can take advantage of the free shuttle service to Wailea.

This resort takes advantage of the gorgeous Hawaii weather with indoor-outdoor areas and stunning views from every angle.
Restaurants at Hotel Wailea
Hotel Wailea offers a few different dining experiences. If you want to leave the resort, check out the 25 best restaurants in Wailea.
The Bird Cage
You can’t miss the Bird Cage when checking in at Hotel Wailea. This restaurant is open daily from 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm. You can enjoy Japanese-inspired dinner options, including Sushi.
You’ll also find live music at the Bird Cage on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Look closely, and you’ll see all the birds!
The Tree House
If you’re visiting Maui for your honeymoon or another special occasion, don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience! Have you ever had a private dinner in a tree house? I didn’t think so!
Enjoy the spectacular scenery as a private chef takes you through a culinary adventure of seven refined courses, each customized to your preferences and prepared at your table.
The Restaurant
The main restaurant at Hotel Wailea, “The Restaurant,” is open from 5:00-8:30 PM daily. You can enjoy delicious cuisine and panoramic ocean views. This restaurant often makes the list of “best restaurants in Maui” or “best restaurants in Hawaii.”
Suites at Hotel Wailea
Each of the 720 suites at Hotel Wailea is 750 square feet and consists of a separate living area, bedroom, and a full bathroom with a soaking tub and shower. The rooms also come stocked with local snacks and beverages.
While all suites have the same size and layout, the view and decor differ. The “Celebration Suites” contain the best views, more curated art, and a resort credit. Take a look at our tour of a Celebration Suite:

Overall Review of Hotel Wailea
I visited Hotel Wailea many years ago as a wedding photographer and photographed a wedding there! It was so beautiful that I knew I would recommend it when I started my travel business.
After returning to Hotel Wailea for this review, I believe it is one of the best honeymoon resorts in Maui and one of the best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii! If you’re looking for a quiet, serene retreat at an upscale boutique resort, you will love it!
I love the Wailea area, and the tranquillity of this resort is second to none!
If you want a large resort with many activities, this is probably not for you. Don’t worry; Maui has plenty of options for you! Contact me, and we’ll work together to find the perfect choice for you.
