The best helicopter tours in Maui
If you’re planning a Maui honeymoon or Maui vacation, you might want to consider a Maui helicopter tour! Today, we’ll talk about the best helicopter tours in Maui and why they’re one of the best things to do in Maui.
You’ve probably already heard about the Road to Hana, Haleakala sunrise, and snorkeling at Molokini Crater. While those are all incredible experiences, there’s one adventure that takes Maui sightseeing to the next level, literally.
A helicopter tour is hands down one of the best ways to see the island, especially the parts that are impossible to reach by car or even on foot. From hidden waterfalls to the dramatic sea cliffs of Molokai, a helicopter tour offers views you’ll never forget. In this post, I’ll share the best helicopter tours in Maui and some tips to help you choose the right one for your Maui vacation.
Before we get started, let me introduce myself. My name is Amy, and I’m a Hawaii Travel Agent. I’m one of the top travel agents for Hawaii, and creating fantastic custom trips in Hawaii is my passion! Contact me today to help plan and book your Hawaii vacation.
DO I NEED A RENTAL CAR IN Maui?
You’ll definitely need a car in Maui. Public transportation isn’t very reliable, and you don’t go to Maui to stay at your resort the entire time! You’ll find the best prices anywhere at Discount Hawaii Car Rental.
Why Take a Helicopter Tour in Maui?
Taking a helicopter tour in Maui can be a big expense, but it’s also one of the best Maui activities. It isn’t easy to see all of Maui from land, so a bird’s-eye view is one of the best ways to see the entire island. You will really get a feel for how different the landscape is from one side of Maui to the other.
How much does a Maui helicopter tour cost?
Depending on the type of tour you choose as well as the tour operator, a helicopter tour in Maui costs anywhere from $300-$475 per person. Some may be even more if they include a landing. It’s one of the more expensive Maui activities, but it’s worth the splurge if it’s within your budget.
The best areas in Maui to see by helicopter
There are three main areas to see on a helicopter tour in Maui. Keep scrolling down just below this for my recommended tours as a Hawaii travel agent!
Hana and Haleakala
First, Hana and Haleakala on the east side of Maui. If you’re driving the Road to Hana, I’d recommend doing a tour of West Maui and Molokai instead. If you’re not driving the Hana Highway, you might consider seeing it from the air!
Another way to see the Road to Hana is through a guided tour. This can be another option for those unsure about driving the long and windy road.
West Maui and Molokai
As a Hawaii Travel Agent, this is the Maui helicopter tour, and I book it the most often for my clients. Did you know that the sea cliffs in Molokai are the highest in the world? Yes, even higher than Kauai! If you’re not going to Kauai and want to see some stunning sea cliffs, this is a must.
Complete island tour
This one is going to cost the most, but it easily tops the list for the best helicopter tours in Maui because you get to see ALL of Maui.
The best helicopter tours in Maui
Now that we’ve discussed some of your options for helicopter tours in Maui, let’s talk about my favorites. On the island of Maui, I recommend either Blue Hawaiian Helicopters or Air Maui for helicopter tours. Both companies have excellent safety ratings and reviews. I personally prefer Blue Hawaiian, but book both regularly.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Here are two fantastic Maui helicopter tours with Blue Hawaiian.
Air Maui
For the most options, you’ll want to go with Air Maui. Here are some of the best helicopter tours in Maui with Air Maui.
- West Maui and Molokai Helicopter Tour
- Hana Rainforest and Haleakala Crater
- West Maui and Molokai with oceanfront landing
- Complete Island Tour of Maui
I haven’t done this one, but this tour of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai deserves an honorable mention!
By the way, if you’re in Kauai, Big Island, or Oahu, I also recommend Mauna Loa helicopter tours. They don’t make the list of the best helicopter tours in Maui because they don’t operate on Maui!
