10 best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii
Hawaii is a fantastic place to go for a honeymoon. I compiled this list of the 10 best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii to include something for everyone. If you’re planning a Hawaii honeymoon, there are a few things you should know.
Unlike many resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, Hawaii does not have many adult-only resorts. Hawaii is very family-friendly, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a great place for honeymoons. This list includes two adults-only options, and many resorts have adults-only areas and pools, which can be great if you want a quieter setting. If you haven’t figured out which island to visit, check out the best Hawaii island for honeymoons.
The best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii
Choosing a pricier resort does not mean that there won’t be children present. Many of the high-end resorts (such as the Four Seasons or Princeville Resort) are top-rated destinations for families. I know that choosing the perfect honeymoon resort can be overwhelming, so make sure to reach out! I am a Hawaii travel agent who specializes in honeymoons, and I’d love to help you! You can read 10 reasons why to use a travel agent in 2020 here.
These resorts are also great for those celebrating anniversaries or just wanting to take a quiet vacation. This list features resorts located on 5 different islands from 5-star World Class resorts to beachfront B&Bs. There is something for everyone.
The best Honeymoon Resorts on Maui
Hotel Wailea is the only genuinely adults-only resort in Hawaii. Located on Maui, it’s also the only Relais & Châteaux property in the state of Hawaii. The grounds of the resort are stunning, and the entire resort has a very relaxing atmosphere. The Hotel Wailea is not directly located on the beach, but it’s just a short trip down the hill to Wailea Beach. Hotel Wailea offers a shuttle service directly to the beach, although it’s an easy walk if you choose to do that. The hotel is all-suites and has won many awards. It’s one of the best options for honeymooners on Maui.
Andaz Maui at Wailea
Also located in Wailea, the Andaz Maui at Wailea is another popular destination for honeymooners. This trendy hotel is also one of the most eco-friendly on Maui. It was Hawaii’s first LEED-certified resort and uses recycled materials and composts food waste, among many other things.
The Andaz Maui has an adults-only pool, which is great for honeymoon couples. You can also enjoy four incredible on-site restaurants and enjoy some wine on your private lanai.
If you’re looking for a unique experience, The Travaasa Hana might be perfect for you. Located in Hana, a popular destination to visit in Maui but a less familiar place to stay. You are entirely removed from the craziness that might be found at other resort areas, but don’t worry, there’s plenty to do at the Travaasa Hana.
The Travaasa is also one of the very few resorts in Hawaii to offer an all-inclusive option featuring three chef-prepared meals. The hospitality at the Travaasa can’t be beaten. If you’re looking for “the real Hawaii,” this is it. While this is not an adults-only hotel, there are fewer families here since it is so removed from the popular areas of Maui.
Montage Kapalua Bay
The Montage Kapalua Bay is a 5-star resort located on the West side of Maui. It is located on 24 oceanfront acres. The premier all-suites resort offers plenty of space along with housekeeping twice a day (yes, twice!) Although you can cook in your suite, the resort provides the excellent restaurants you would expect from a 5-star resort.
You can also enjoy some golf on two nearby golf courses and swim or snorkel in the ocean that is just a few steps from your room. Like most of the resorts on this list, the Montage Kapalua Bay is not adults-only but does feature an adults-only pool.

The best Honeymoon Resorts on Lanai
Four Seasons Lanai
This resort has the luxurious amenities that you would expect from a Four Seasons, along with feeling like you’re in a private tropical paradise. The Four Seasons Lanai is one of the most exclusive resorts in Hawaii. Although the Four Seasons is kid-friendly, you won’t find as many here due to the remote location of Lanai. The Four Seasons also had two lagoon styles pools; one is adults-only. If you want to get away from it all, Lanai is a great choice and just a 45-minute ferry ride from Maui.
The best Honeymoon resorts on Kauai
Formerly the St. Regis Princeville, the Princeville Resort is one of the most popular resorts on Kauai. Located overlooking Hanalei Bay, the mountain and ocean views are some of the best you’ll find in Hawaii.
The Princeville Resort is located just one mile from Queens Bath and 9 miles from Kilauea Lighthouse. If you want to stay on the North Shore of Kauai, this is the most luxurious resort you can choose.
Poipu Plantation Resort
If you’re on a budget, this beachfront B&B is a great option! The bed and breakfast suites are adults-only, although children are allowed in the nearby vacation rentals.
It is located in Poipu in the southern part of Kauai, which is the sunny, dry side of the island. Poipu Plantation Resorts is also just steps from Poipu Beach, so you’ll want to spend some time there!

The best honeymoon resorts on Oahu
Before you think I’ve lost my mind, hear me out! Yes, Aulani is a family-friendly Disney Resort, but it’s almost a popular honeymoon destination! If you love Disney and Hawaii, Aulani might be an excellent place for your honeymoon. Aulani Resort has done a fantastic job of infusing Disney magic into an authentically Hawaiian resort.
The months of May and September are great times to visit Aulani since many children are finishing or just starting school. These are also prime wedding months, so it all works out! Yes, there will be children at Aulani no matter what, but they have adults-only pools and an incredible spa. Aulani also has a saltwater lagoon with plenty of fish if snorkeling sounds fun, but you’re not ready to snorkel in open water. Check current pricing for Disney’s Aulani Resort here.
Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina
Located right next to Aulani Resort is the luxurious Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina. If you want to honeymoon on Oahu but stay away from the business of Waikiki, the Ko Olina resort area is a great option.
You probably already know that you’ll experience world-class service at the Four Seasons. Three Four Seasons resorts made these ten best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii list! The beautiful adults-only infinity pool has butler service, and the restaurants at the Four Seasons Ko Olina are highly rated.
As a bonus, you can visit Aulani from the Four Seasons (and vice versa) if you’d like to check out the restaurants, spa, or shopping!

Honeymoon Resorts on the Island of Hawaii (The Big Island)
Four Seasons Hualalai
Moving on to my favorite island, the Big Island of Hawaii. And of course, another Four Seasons Resort. The Four Seasons Hualalai is one of the highest-rated resorts in all of Hawaii and was recently named the “Best Resort in the U.S.” by the U.S. News & World Report.
The Four Seasons has an award-winning golf course, seven pools, and is the only Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Rated Resort in Hawaii. One of the best parts of the resort is the cultural center, which has activities and classing featuring Hawaiian culture.
There are many other Big Island resorts that I love, such as the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Fairmont Orchid, but I had to choose 10 best honeymoon resorts in Hawaii list. Want to check out more Hawaii Island Resorts? Check out the best resorts on the Big Island.
