3 reasons to work with a Travel Agent

Today I am going to share three reasons to work with a travel agent in 2024 and beyond. 

One thing I’ve heard (often) since I started my travel agency in 2018 is, “People still use travel agents?!” Honestly, I’m not even offended because before I started as a travel agent, *I* didn’t really know that people still used travel agents either! 

Before I started my travel agency, I had a blog (this blog!) where I talked a lot about travel. My sister said “you should just be a travel agent” and the rest is history. Within a couple of years, I was one of the top travel agents selling over one million in travel per year!

The fact is that, in some cases, more people are using travel agents than ever. Today, I’ll share 3 reasons why you might want to consider working with a travel agent.

Why to work with a travel agent

If you’ve ever tried to plan a trip but felt overwhelmed by the endless options and logistics, you’re not alone. I get it—there are a lot of things to figure out when planning a vacation or honeymoon. That’s where I come in.

1. Expertise and guidance

Travel agents aren’t just booking agents; we’re seasoned experts in the world of travel. We keep up with all the latest information, so you don’t have to!  Say goodbye to hours of online research and hello to expert guidance. Remember that your great aunt Gertrude, who went to Hawaii in 1985, may not have any idea what a Hawaii vacation looks like now.

Remember that what you read online is often ONE person’s opinion. I am also one person, but I book dozens of families and couples every year and base my decisions on current experiences from both myself and all my clients!

I am frequently traveling to check out hotels for resort tours on YouTube, blog posts, activities, and more! 

2. Added Amenities

I’m often asked if it’s cheaper to book with a Travel Agent. The answer is sometimes, but rarely. Sometimes, we do have exclusive rates, but often, it will be the exact same as if you do it yourself.

Trust me, I wish I had a magic wand to make flights cheaper! However, one of the best perks of booking through a travel agent is the access to exclusive amenities and upgrades. I never promise anything, but my clients will often find room upgrades or other little extras that “normal” travelers don’t get! We can often sprinkle a little extra magic onto your trip.

Does anyone else remember Expedia turning off their phone lines in 2020? I do! However, all of my clients could call or email me to get the help they needed when travel was most difficult.
