What is the best luau in Hawaii?
If it’s your first trip to Hawaii, no doubt, a Hawaii luau is on your must-do list. I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “What is the best luau in Hawaii?” Even if you’ve been to Hawaii multiple times, there are plenty of different luaus to check out.
Today, I will talk about the ten-ish best luaus in Hawaii, on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. From an authentic Hawaiian luau to a luxury luau, there’s a Hawaii luau for everyone.
I always recommend booking in advance, as popular luaus do tend to sell out.

DO I NEED A RENTAL CAR in Hawaii?
This should come as no surprise, but unless you’re staying in Waikiki, a rental car is always recommended and in most cases, a must!
I recommend Discount Hawaii Car Rental. They have the best rates and free cancellation. You can pick up your car at any of the airports in Hawaii. You won’t pay until you pick up your vehicle, and cancellation is free.
What is the best luau on Oahu?
Oahu is one of the best islands (if not the best) for a luau in Hawaii because there are several fantastic options!

Mauka Warriors Luau
One of the highest-rated luaus in all of Hawaii, Mauka Warriors Luau is a go-to for my clients. Pickups can be arranged if you do not have a rental car.
You’ll enjoy an authentic buffet-style feast (all-you-can-eat) with a great show featuring fire dancing, history, and more.
Ne Lei Aloha Luau
This boutique luau in Hawaii is unique and located in the heart of Waikiki. Ne Lei Aloha Luau focuses on Hawaii, which is different than many other shows that cover other Polynesian Islands.
This is a buffet luau, but it is a unique experience in Waikiki and perfect for those who don’t want to venture too far for a luau.
Toa Luau at Waimea Valley
This traditional Polynesian Luau is located on the North Shore, near Haleiwa. If you’re planning a North Shore day, why not end it with one of the best luaus on Oahu?
Luau at Waimea Valley has a show covering Hawaii, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Samoa. The food is considered some of the best luau food on Oahu.
Chiefs Luau
Chiefs Luau is always a hit, and transfers are available if you don’t have a rental car. It is hosted by Chief Sielu, Original World Fire Knife Dance Champion! This is another luau featuring a buffet (as most do) but the food is always rated well by guests.

More things to do in Waikiki
This Waikiki luau is one of the best things to do in Waikiki; check out more of the best things to do in Waikiki here.

If you’re looking for even more things to do in Oahu, I’ve got you covered!
What is the best Maui luau?
There are many great luaus in Maui, but I have one go-to on the south side and one go-to on the west side!
Feast at Mokapu
Feast at Mokapu is a luau that I book for my clients more than anything else. Why? It is not a buffet! This luxury luau at the Andaz Maui at Wailea is plated, and premium seating ensures a private table near the stage.

While not a budget-friendly luau, it’s easily the best in Maui, if not the best luau in Hawaii!
Maui Nui Luau
Maui Nui Luau is the best luau on the west side, located at the Sheraton Waikiki. If you’re staying at one of the fantastic west side resorts, this is an easy choice!
Myths of Maui Luau
Myths of Maui luau is an oceanfront luau located at the Royal Lahaina Resort. While this luau showcases other Polynesian Cultures, it also specifically focuses on the stories and folklore of Maui.

What is the best luau on Kauai?
Before we move on to the best luau in Kauai, I want to point out that I highly recommend a luau in Maui or Oahu vs. Kauai or the Big Island. If you’ll be visiting multiple islands, you may want to take that into consideration!
If you’ll only be visiting the Big Island or Kauai, I have some suggestions for each island!
Luau Kalamaku
Luau Kalamaku is easily the best luau in Kauai. Held at Kilohana Manor, the location in Lihue is perfect, no matter where you’re staying in Kauai. You’ll start with a four-course dinner followed by a fantastic show.

Wailua Nui Luau
Lately, I’ve been hearing positive things from clients about Wailua Nui Luau at Hilton Garden Inn! This luau is very competitively priced and well-rated!

On the Big Island, I recommend Voyagers of the Pacific.
Voyagers of the Pacific
This is a classic Hawaiian luau held at Royal Kona Resort. Voyagers of the Pacific is perfectly located in Kona Town, but keep in mind that it’s about 20-25 minutes away from the resort area.
