7 best Happy Hours in Kona
It might seem like I am a little biased and write more about the Big Island of Hawaii than anything else. Well, it’s true! I love the Big Island, and I’m not sorry about it. Today’s post is a fun one, the best Happy Hours in Kona. Even if you don’t want a drink, Happy Hour can be a great time to save money on food too!
I will try to keep this list as up to date as possible but keep in mind that hours and prices may change.
Best Happy Hours in Kona
In no particular order, here are the best Happy Hours in Kona.
1. Don’s Mai Tai Bar
Any time you ask about the best happy hours in Kona, you’ll hear about Don’s Mai Tai Bar. They offer $6 mai tais and other drink discounts from 4-6 PM.
2. On The Rocks
On The Rocks offers $5 mai tais, $4 pupus and one of the best views in Kona because it is (as the name implies) directly on the water!
3. Splasher’s Grill
Splasher’s Grill offers $5 mai tais and margaritas and other discounts from 3-6 PM. Splashers also have live music nightly. This is my favorite restaurant in Kona; you don’t want to miss it. Make sure to ask for a table around the perimeter for the best view.
4. Bongo Bens
Bongo Bens is another one of our favorites on Ali’i drive, right across from the ocean. Here you’ll find drink and food specials from 2-6 PM. The $5 pink drink (I get this every time and can’t remember the name) is my favorite. They also offer $5 mai tais, Blue Hawaiian and more.
5. Kona Inn
If you’ve read any of my blog posts, you know that the best mai tai in Kona is at the Kona Inn! I’m not particularly impressed with their food, but the mai tais are amazing. Get a $6 mai tai and other drink specials from 2-5 PM daily.
6. Island Lava Java
I had to call Lava Java while writing this blog post because their happy hour isn’t listed anywhere online. I knew that they had one and confirmed that it is 3:30-5:30 PM daily.
7. Lava Lava Beach Club
Lava Lava Beach Club is not in Kona but Waikoloa. If you’re staying in the resort area, it will be nearly. They offer $6 mai tais and food discounts from 3-5 PM. Stay after 5 for live music every night!
